Book Review: "The Last Tudor"

   The Last Tudor
   Philippa Gregory

The Last Tudor recounts the stories of Jane, Katherine and Mary Grey, the great-nieces of King Henry VIII. These Protestant granddaughters of Henry’s youngest sister, Mary, are named as heirs to the throne by Henry’s son, King Edward VI. Will one or more of them ascend to the throne or does Fate have something else in store?

History buffs, of course, know what happens to these royal women, but reading a fictionalized account of their lives is fascinating. Though living as a royal often provided an easier life, court life was fraught with peril and one misstep could lead to imprisonment or even death. If you’re looking for an educational, yet entertaining read, The Last Tudor is an excellent choice.
